Get in the Mix
Two of Crossville’s tile lines took center stage recently when we took part in DESIGN MIX 2012 in Miami last month. The annual event invites companies like ours to team up with architectural and
fashion design students with the goal being to create a one-of-a-kind wearable garment made of the sponsor’s product. And just as we intermingled with the design team, those very designers took two Crossville lines — Glass Blox and Ebb and Flow — to create a stunning piece that made jaws drop in true Crossville style!
The design team was comprised of nine of Marcia Lopes de Mello’s interior design students* from Miami Dade College School of Architecture and Interior Design. They began with an initial idea that blended the natural stone and glass color patterns of the two Crossville lines into a Gothic-reminiscent look.
The end result was this beautiful creation:
A tank-style, mid-thigh mosaic-tile dress featuring vibrant reds, blues, greens, yellows and purples. The black-tile robe overlay showcases a gorgeous black tile, which accentuates the “flying buttress” hips. Lest any detail be omitted, the outfit was complete down to the very last details:
A black tile finger piece and matching color accents around model Sommer Shaw’s ears. And it moves as even better than it looks! Watch Sommer work the runway in her one-of-a-kind Crossville tile dress!
